Ministries

Southland prides itself on being a place where ministry happens.  We have several weekly Bible studies for those looking for more opportunities to grow in the Lord.  We frequently bring in musical guests or other performers for concerts.  Several times a year we host revival or other special services.  We’re also always on the look out for new ways to minister to our community.  The best way to discover what all goes on is to drop in for a visit.  We’d love to help you find a place to be transformed by God’s grace, nurtured in Christ’s love, and sent in the Spirit’s power to join God in His redeeming work around the world.

Children’s Ministry
The Children’s Ministry at Southland Baptist Church seeks to provide a loving and accepting environment for all children. It is our desire that spiritual foundations be laid and children can learn to apply spiritual truths to their everyday lives.

Student Ministry

The Southland Student Ministry exists to see students grow in their relationship with the Lord.  Weekly meetings include Sunday School at 9:30am on Sundays and “Refuge” a youth Bible study on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.  Yearly highlights include youth camp, mission trips, and weekend retreats.  Included in this note is a link to our experience in Costa Rica which is posted on Google. It is a private video, meaning no one can search for it and view it unless they have the link. You can view our Costa Rica Experience here.

College and Career Ministry
Come find your home away from home with the College and Career Mininstry at Southland Baptist Church.  Weekly Bible Study, semi-monthly mission trips to Mexico, and lots of fellowship make this a great place to plug into body of Christ while in school.

Music Ministry
The Southland Music Ministry has a place for everyone from children to Senior Adults.  Opportunities for involvement include choirs, orchestra, hand bells and more.  Check out the music page for a complete listing of the Music Ministries activities and rehearsals.

Stephen Ministry
stephen_logo
Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministers serve as a presence in the life of another person offering needed care while remembering that only Christ offers a cure. The Stephen Series logo, depicted at the right, symbolizes that we all are broken people and that it is through the cross of Jesus that we are made whole. Click for more information.

Senior Adult Ministry

Our seniors stay active in the many various ministries and activities of our church and enjoy a great number of activities including game nights, senior adult trips, and some of the best parties in the church.  Senior adults have variety of Bible study classes from which to choose.

Sunday School
Sunday School has something for everyone.  Classes range in size from just a handful to several dozen, some classes study the Bible book by book while others take a more topical approach.  But every class cares for their members and strives to help them become more like Jesus everyday.   Selecting the link for this ministry will direct you to a list of SS Classes, including those which have a link to their class web site.

Deacon Ministry

The Deacon body at Southland exists to serve the church’s most basic needs.  With visits to the hospital and to the homebound, with new member orientation, and with faithful prayer, the Deacons make the love of Christ tangible at Southland.  The Deacon Ministry page will also provide links to the local hospital “e-card” service which is available for sending notes to friends and family while they are in patient status.

Boy Scouts of America, Troop 363
Troop 363 is part of the Concho Valley Council and is sponsored by Southland Baptist Church.  Meetings are held every Tuesday evening in the classroom facilities of the church at 7:00 pm.  There are over 25 active scouts ranging from 11 to 17 years in age.  Once a month a campout is planned so the boys can work on merit badges and rank requirements.  In addition to this, the campouts give the boys an opportunity to learn and "unwind" at the same time.  There is a strong group of parents present at all the troop meetings and campouts, but Troop 363 takes a lot of pride in letting the boys run the activities and plan the events.  The activities have a way of turning boys into responsible, resourceful, courteous, and intelligent young men.  The troop and its leadership fully encourage and extend every opportunity for each scout to earn his Eagle rank.  Since 1990, 29 scouts have been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout from our troop.  We welcome anyone who is interested in finding out more about our troop to join us at one of our weekly meetings or perhaps a campout.  We guarantee you'll have a blast!
